Trading Strategies Onenote Document

Thought I'd share my current layout. My chart window shows 12 different 5 min charts which I monitor at the open to see which stocks in my watchlist are starting to look promising for an ORB. I look for a spike up and then consolidation. When I decide to enter a trade I switch to my flex grid- I have a flex grid for one stock (1 min, 5 min, 15 min and daily charts) and another flex grid for two stocks (1 min and 5 min charts). I don't trade more than two stocks at a time. After I complete a trade on my flex grid I go back to the main chart window to look for other setups.

I believe I'm starting to notice some improvement. I seem to be sticking to my rules better (waiting for the right setups and not chasing) and having less execution mistakes.

Today's notes:
Don't enter too early, wait for pullback

@Vince Field

I think it's beneficial that you put in the effort to share your strategy, your thinking, and your results. Even if we don't use the same strategy, see how others approach when to make entry is helpful to many.

I am not a scalper. So the following observation may not apply to your strategy. I was wondering if you determine trend before entry, is that applicable to your strategy?

@Vince Field
I had also looked at NIO and ALTM on Friday but as seen in the 1hr charts that I posted above, I did not enter as the 1hr charts showed no trend. As I said, I don't scalp so this may not apply to how you look at stocks.
I have enjoyed your thread very much and am NOT trying to tell you to change anything. Just wondered what you saw in these two stocks that I didn't.

Do you ever use tick charts for confirmation of entry?
Here is what the tick chart looked like when you entered on NIO:

I haven't posted my Friday trades yet. Check the dates at the top of each entry. I'm a couple days behind posting this week. But I encourage and appreciate constructive criticism so if you see something you would change please let me know. That's why I'm posting this here! Otherwise I would just keep my journaling to myself.

The only time I'll enter long on a downtrend is if there are signs of a reversal. I don't trade pullbacks of a longer downtrend.

I probably wouldn't have entered that trade had I been watching NIO on Friday, unless perhaps there were strong indicators for a reversal. I in fact did not trade NIO at all on Friday. I don't use tick charts but have looked into them and considered it. I don't see many day traders using them.

@Vince Field Ahhhh.... that explains it. I was applying Friday's charts to your Thursday trades. So sorry... ☹️
None of my posts apply...

I am an idjit... Hopefully, I can weigh in more intelligently in the future.

Today's notes:
Don't enter after large red candle?
Don't make stop loss too tight.
Be careful entering after large bearish candle with high volume.

@Vince Field You have been using the minimized version of all your images.
That's strange. I'm using the same images on other forums and they are expandable so you can see the full size. https://www.elitetrader.com/et/thre...rnal-advice-needed.351559/page-3#post-5248874

I upload the images from my comp to an image upload website because I couldn't find a direct upload option from my comp to this forum. Do you have any suggestions as to how I can upload larger images? I'm using https://imgbb.com/ to upload.

Try using Imgur.com instead, as described in the forum topic HERE on how to attach images in posts... Your most likely free image host is probably resizing the images to reduce bandwidth... This is a common practice...
