Confirmation Candles Indicator For ThinkorSwim

Having issues with the v2 Scalper not painting in pre-market. Any known fixes for this? After the bell it will go back and paint everything however.

Hi @DoubleD,
The open and close time primarily affects the profit/loss calculations. The strategy itself will continue to run in the aftermarket hours. The win percentage is considerably higher with aftermarket hours off though, and was designed with this in mind. I hope this helps. Happy trading!
Hi Chris, thanks for the info. The scalper is still working well for me but wanted to explore the TS_Strategy more. Would you be able to easily convert it to a indicator only? I believe my computer is running real slow when I have it on maybe because of all the calculations that the buy and sell for profit is doing. Thanks in advance

Hi @SuperContra,
What settings are you currently using? Would you mind taking a screenshot for me? It really helps me to fully understand the issue. I’ll be happy to look into it.

Here is showing an equity going from AH to PM. The candles stop painting and the scalper reverts to only showing clouds and arrows.

These are the settings

Let me know what I'm doing wrong here, love the scalper, but primarily trade PM these days. Forgot to add this is the 2D 1Min.

Thanks again for all you do. These are some of the best indis out there

Hi @DoubleD,
Here's a sharelink for the stripped down version of TS_v9 https://tos.mx/PXOl9xu. Hope this helps! Happy trading!

Hi @SuperContra,
Sorry to hear that you are having some difficulties. Here is a link to my chart setup https://tos.mx/TcBb4jI. It Is working properly for me. It may be that you need more than 2 Days on the chart history for it to work properly. Please let me know if this doesn't correct the issue.

Thanks for the reply Chris, I went back this afternoon to look at the chart and yes, it had repainted all the areas like nothing happened. I presume there is a problem with it actually painting in real-time right after the PM bell. Will confirm again tomorrow, but I tried it on multiple instruments this morning with the same "non-painting issue."

Thanks again.

Hi @SuperContra,
Did you try extending your chart history out further? Try 30 days instead of 2 days. The study needs enough data (periods) for the averages to function.

Chris,

Please see SS from this morning. I posted the time I took the screen shot as well. The chart is set to 30d 1m, this painting issue only appears to work with the v2 scalper, which is unfortunate as i have found it to be the best at scalping! Please see below. I wouldnt be surprised if the candles fill in at a later time like they did yesterday...

Lase ss taken 0642EST

Tsla ss taken 0643EST

With both equities, as soon as the chart goes from yesterday (10/12/22) AH to today (10/13/22) PM, the candles revert from the scalper back to regular HA. Might need to be up this early to catch it however.... Thanks ahead for looking at this.

Hi @SuperContra,
I'm unable to get this issue to occur on my system. My only other suggestion is to remove any other candle painting studies from your active study set. Even if they are unchecked in your active study set, they can still interfere with the painting study you are trying to use (ToS flaw). Here's a sharelink with a different version of C3 Max (without candle painting) to allow it to work better with Scalper v2 https://tos.mx/hYoUtJc . I hope it works better for you.

The bearish trend continues. The month chart giving a strong indication of the trend environment, while the 1 hour strategy is still showing strong performance especially when traded in the major trend direction. Happy trading everyone!

gosh.. I keep switching strategies and I missed the latest short signal on the 1 hour. Guess that's a sign I should stick with this strategy and stop messing around, huh?

Thanks for that Chris, I'll give it a try this morning. Unfortunately I was able to replicate the issue with your chart, simply by turning on extended hours. Here is IMRA, and TSLA from today. Same issue, once the extended hours session changes over from AH to PM, the candles no longer paint. Using your chart link here (ext. hours turned on), just with different equities that I would trade PM. https://tos.mx/TcBb4jI.

Strange that it happens only in early morning extended hours while you are looking at them live. Backtesting they will paint properly.... Just makes the V2 unusuable in premarket. Thanks again for the continued support

Chris wanted to say after two days of messing with the chart, I found a solution changing the actual aggregation period for the V2 Scalper. If "day" is enabled as an agg period, it will not paint live in the PM session. Like you stated earlier, it may have something to do with how the scalper calculates and aggregates the day data.

Changing the agg to include any combination excluding the 1day will result in the scalper working correctly as it transitions between days (AH to PM) in the extended hours sessions.

Interesting issue, but happy to share a remedy for anyone else using this excellent tool to scalp early morning news. Thanks again

That's interesting. All my V2 charts have 1day agg selected and paint extended hours with no problem. Just curious, do you have "start aggregations at market open" checked ON or OFF in your TOS settings?

The only time v2 doesn't paint correctly for me is if any of the agg settings are lower than the timeframe of the chart. Plotting a chart with a higher resolution than the lowest agg setting messes it up.

Best wishes and happy trading.

Is there a setting to adjust the opacity of the clouds? Also can an input be added to adjust opacity of the lines and to adjust the opacity of the clouds?
