Hi I know I am late to the party here, but may I ask does this buy/sell indicator show the buy and the sell volume accurately? I have read that TOS only provides data for total volume that is not identified as buy or sell individually? If this is correct how does this indicator identify either please? Thanks!

hey guys, with the volume indicators, is there a way of excluding the premarket volume? The average is always off in the morning because the premarket low volume. Is there a script to exclude premarket?

I just started using this script, but I would like an explanation on the histogram please, like how to use it and what do the blue bars mean and what do yellow, green, and red mean.Overall I just want to know how I can use this indicator to my advantage. And thank you .

Hello, I like this indicator( My Buy/Sell volume Breakdown), but it will not let me put it on a Weekly or Monthly Chart. Is there a way to do so

I dont understand the concept here. If I am using a 30 minute time frame, the formula in the script should only be able to determine what happened at the end of that 30 minute candle. How would it integrate every single trade within that candle in order to provide a cumulative pattern over that time frame?

Assuming it works as proposed, would is also work on options? Ran a quick scan and cant make them work on options.

I think I came up with a way to color the volume bars better. Instead of having a buy, sell & total volume, we now have a "lower volume" & "total volume".
  • If sell volume is lower than buy volume it is red & total volume is green; making it appear that buy volume is stacked on top of sell volume.
  • If buy volume is lower than sell volume it is green & total volume is red; making it appear that sell volume is stacked on top of buy volume.

Is there a way you can add Up & down arrows to the VolAvg based on the High peak & low peak average volume?
 
Volume indicator showing total, buy, and sell volumes as a histogram. Also average volume as a line plot. Bars with a specified percent over the average volume are marked on the bar. Additional Volume information provided by labels.
Rework of the previous study to show better representation of what volume is doing. Please consider replacing the old study if you are using it.

Horserider, would it be possible to change your volume buy sell indicator to weekly and monthly? I tried to change all your code to BAR designation from Day. I concluded if I was calculating buy sell volume on bars than I could use any designation including week and month. The highly liquid stocks have weekly and monthly cycles that are more consistent, therefore easier to trade both debit and credit spreads. Thank you for sharing your thinkscript with us. Lesnewby

No, I am not replying to your posts. What I am trying to accomplish is to get separate colors for the range between 75-89, 90-100, and also 25-11, 10-0. The script I posted above was my feeble attempt at it, and does not work. I was hoping for someone to point me in the right direction.

I believe I have a work around for this as it has drove me crazy in the past as well when volume spikes so high that it distorts the volume bar chart making it appear like it's 'smushed' together.

#First make sure you have volume average defined and ploted as #the first plot. something like this :

#Then for this particular study, maybe define the "lowervol" as #something like:

#and plot the lowervol as:

# I could be wrong, as I'm still learning, but I think this should plot #any volume bars that are spiking 2x the volume avg as equal to #the volume average instead

I believe this will make the volume at least appear as you want it, although the particular volume spikes greater than 2x the volume average will not be accurate. You could then add an arrow to point out the particular bar that is spiking or just use what's already there (the triangles ) as a reference because the ma plot is extrememly close to pointing out all of the same spikes, you could just adjust it to show what you would like. Anyway, here is the difference between this script and if you edit it like I mentioned. The bars are much bigger, if that's what you are after.

I may have some of the coding inncorrect, so correct me if I'm wrong. I am fairly new to this.

Edit: I realized I don't think there's a way to upload an image without using dropbox or something similar, so try it for yourself and see if you like it, sorry I don't have a image hosting service account to upload a picture.
