He's like every other trader on Twitter that shares their information for free. Eventually they all offer a paid service because it's much easier to get ****ers as subscribers than it is to actually go through the grind of trading, I've been seeing it for years. He ain't the first and he definitely ain't the last.

I view it a bit different. Regardless of his intentions before and during the time he was active here, he did share what he had with the community here. A few great coders jumped in and made it better and the everyone had and still has access to this indicator as a result. He also spent a great deal of time on zoom webinars to help members on how to use the indicator. From there I now see the indicator is available on other platforms not just TOS. I know some here may feel they'll been used or something but really, who here contribute with the expectation of getting paid? So would you have contributed less or nothing if you knew ahead of time the guy will eventually do his own thing? I don't think anyone here with the exception of @BenTen but this is his house and we're using up his resources. I know that those who contributes the most here are often the most unselfish and willing to give up their expertise and time without any expectation of anything in return except maybe some gratitude. They just love to do what they do and help those who need help. As a member here, I feel like I've taken from this community way way more than what I've contributed and I know most of you are the same. So regarding Jose, I don't think he owes anyone anything as he also have contributed in the short time he was here and without him, there would be no SwingArm (or at least the idea may not have come here this soon). In my opinion, most of us have contributed nothing to this so we shouldn't think anyone owes us anything.

Regarding Jose's decision to move on...

Swingarm is his baby and whatever he decides to do with it is really his decision. If he decides to start a subscription service, how does that affect you and your trading? Whatever he charges is his decision and the demand for it will dictate the price. Maybe he only want certain type of subscribers and doesn't want a lot of subscribers? Whatever it is, it's his decision and to me, it doesn't affect me one bit.

One last thought...

When it comes down to it, I've never met a successful trader who became successful because of a particular indicator. Yes, the indicator helps make your job easier but it won't make you a great trader. It won't stop you getting bad entries. I won't stop you from getting stopped out. It won't stop you from sweating and panicking when the trade goes against you. It won't stop you from being like a deer in front of headlights when this happens. It won't stop you from feeling like you missed out on a trade and chasing or being greedy and not taking profit. Having it won't make you a great trader and not having it won't prevent you from being a great trader.

Let's focus on our individual journey and continue to contribute to this community and not worry about what other people do with their own stuff and how they run their business.

IMHO some of the people comments are misconstrued.

Nobody said "don't make money" the issue is *don't say it's pay it forward then go back and package to sell on other people efforts.

That's NOT right.

Almost all of the efforts were addition by others... so you can't do it. ( I don't believe he coded anything)

If he needs money for his time to train others , he could have said simply that.. no one would have faulted him.

Look at this whole thread... there were numerous people who contributed to this from all over the world.
Yes , he did zoom and let his process (BTW is not the Swingarm original came from somewhere else)

Yes, we have VIP section and i do see commercial indicator ... at least be upfront .. instead of making people "****ers".

Anyway as someone said... it's his choice to make money... so be it

Peace

The swing arm concept is nothing new; basically it's buying pullbacks in a prevailing trend. Unfortunately, there is no magic time frame and there will always be buckets above and below you. And often, the price never pulls back to your bucket/zone for an entry. In other words, the indicator really doesn't give you an edge. I can see how Jose's new attitude rubs people the wrong way - going from "sharing with the community" to charging for a service. Sorry for being unfiltered, but what do you really expect from a failed real estate agent living in Florida? Didn't it seem odd that the guy already had a website up and running once he popped up here? If you still want to give Jose the benefit of the doubt, just consider why he would bother with a service if he really made money trading (which is a scalable model)?

With that said, just look at VWAP, reversal pivots and floor trader pivots. That's all you need to know to make money trading.

That's a little harsh my brother. I would not pay him for code but I am also glad to meet him and help him debug here and there...
I think it could give people an advantage so long as they use it with other things. That is true of everything here.

On another note @KarlWolff what do you think of super simple futures trading of Buy on the SPOT line and consider selling on the others based on how price has been moving?

What is the reversal Pivot and floor trader pivots you are talking about.
Do you mind sharing it...

Hello everyone. I am just coming back to review what is going on as some members reached out to me with questions.

I do not know what to say, to be honest. I do not know what more I could have done to help the group and teach others for free. For two months I worked incredible hours to teach and help others understand the swingarm. The time passed and no issues until a few people thought that I needed to do more and give everything I have done in the past five years as part of a $99 membership that has nothing to do with me.

I have incredible respect for individuals of this group starting with @BenTen @horserider @mashume @Playstation @xzeryn and others that have provided their time and know-how to help everyone.

The SwingArm was never sold and will never be sold. It was distributed freely as others have done with their tools with the intent to give back and pay it forward. Why is that so hard to understand by some? I do not know.

No code is protected within ThinkOrSwim. That is clear. I am not interested in selling code to anyone. I am not a coder.

Anyone can go online and use code posted in this forum, just as the SwingArm code is. That is the purpose. To allow others to utilize it to the best of their ability and hopefully impact in a positive way their trading experience. There is no magic tool, you still have to have what it takes to be a trader. No tool will give you that.

I do not have to sell or use anybody's code. If someone wants to use the code available on this site for their personal use, they can go and get it themselves, including the SwingArm.

The Platinum alerts are NOT needed to trade the SwingArm. It is not needed. But if someone sees the value and it helps them in making a decision and wants to pay to see it via Live Streaming, what is wrong with that? I have always been willing to share my experience with anyone interested in listening.

I am truly sorry to have caused so much disruption to this group by sharing the SwingArm.
It never crossed my mind this would turn out the way it did. I am just shocked by the hate of some here, especially people that have no clue who I am.

This is my last post to this forum.

God bless you all.

for what it's worth @fjr1300 great work man... I wouldn't let the haters get to you... they're outnumbered by those who appreciate what you're doing..

Can anyone help me with the daily support and resistance zones? didn't see them in the study from post #1 in this thread, and the code from https://usethinkscript.com/threads/average-price-movements-indicator-for-thinkorswim.1230/ doesn't seem to be working for me using the default (daily) setting on a lower time frame. the range seems too big

@Dom173 What's wrong with the Average Price Movements indicator? What do you mean by "using the default (daily) setting on a lower time frame the range seems too big."

I just added to my chart and it looks just fine.

But if someone sees the value and it helps them in making a decision and wants to pay to see it via Live Streaming, what is wrong with that?

@fjr1300... Mr.Jose... Thanks for your effort and almost all of us appreciate your help but it's also so sad , you don't understand the difference , what others are saying (and what you are doing wrong).

No one said, you don't want to make money... but all your posts (and even your website was), "Pay it forward , i don't want to sell but then immediately you went to sell your services... Please don't tell us , you didn't take others efforts... almost all of them are others efforts ...as evident from the threads.

All folks are saying is ... Be upfront (as i stated there is a VIP forum where it's Paid and no one crips about it as it's intent is clear).

Finally charging $400 to see you "live trade" (unless it's celebrity trading.. u know what i meant), what's its purpose . what you are doing is bring in newbie ****ers into your platform as ****ers with dangling carrot. If you don't realize it... Sorry ... peace be on to you.

You said you are not selling and so , if you "really want it pay it forward" , why not be reasonable in those prizes and teach them.

Again , there is 2 ways.
1) Say your intent clearly and make money
2) Say you are for others ( like you did initially)and follow thru it. For example : If someone had taken this path, they would have charged $49 or something to answers questions and help others ...

But for some reason , you started Option 2 and tried to make it to Option 1... which is the issue.

Peace
MN

Would anyone know how to make the swingarm change trend direction only after the close of a candle? I often find that while the swingarm changes its trend before the candle has fully closed and i would get faked out, especially when trading on lower timeframes. I could wait for the candle to close but it would be much more convenient and nice the other way around. Thanks in advance!

With that said, just look at VWAP, reversal pivots and floor trader pivots. That's all you need to know to make money trading

Can you tell me where I can find reversal pivots and floor trader pivots? I can't find any pivots with those names in TOS

I'm following this thread for several weeks now and as I'm in Belgium and TD Ameritrade is not offering any services here, I'm having no access tot TOS.... So sorry upfront that it is not on topic for TOS, but it is for the SwinArm. I'm also a swingtrader, not a daytrader. So I built the SwingArm TOS script in Python and applied the daily data for stocks. Anybody who is interested in the script, just let me know. I built a first version over the last week and still need to work further on it. You can see a screenshot for AAPL over the last 100 days attached - you can see the SwingArm and the 3 Fib levels. I have scripted alerts for crossing the Fib levels for buy or sell.
A question for @fjr1300 or anyone else knowledge: the script gives perfect entry points, but what about profit taking? I understand when daytrading futures, the daily average price moving levels are being used to give some indication (maybe I misunderstood...), but with swingtrading, you trade possibly during multiple weeks. Any help on this would be appreciated! Any feedback is also welcome...

I have it. I will post it.

Code:

# NOTE: SELECT ON THE BOTTOM EITHER PLOT BUY Signals OR PLOT SELL SIGNALS. Just move the # to the one you want to scan for.

input averageType = AverageType.WILDERS;

def HRef = if low <= high[1] then high - close[1] else (high - close[1]) - 0.5 * (low - high[1]); def LRef = if high >= low[1]

}
def BuySignal = Crosses(state == state.long, 0, CrossingDirection.ABOVE);
def SellSignal = Crosses(state == state.short, 0, CrossingDirection.ABOVE);
# move comment markers dependin on which of these two you want to run
plot scan = BuySignal;
#plot scan = SellSignal;
How to use this on various time frames ? is there a video explaining this scan please ?
