Today I found a "bug" & a fix upon log-in.

No problem logging into Schwab, TOS Android, TOS on the WEB but our near and dear desktop would not take my password today.

Down below the blue log in button is blue text that reads "CLEAR CACHE... ". After it cleared and restarted all was good.

All of the current studies and sets that I shared with myself over the past month came over. The 2000+ user studies were backed up and import just fine as needed.

Schwab's statement:
There are isolated traders, whose custom scripts, scans, watchlists were not ported over to the Schwab ToS servers.
(one of the more frequent reasons is that their Schwab ToS accounts were not set up and verified correctly).
However, no one has permanently 'lost' their custom studies, scans, watchlists, etc on the ToS live desktop app.

From what I understand:
The utility that Schwab is using to recover your 'lost' studies is simple. If you call them, they will create something-like shared links or .tx exports from your ToS set-up on the TDA servers, and they then import them into your Schwab ToS account. The indicators might have 'shared' prefix in their name, but essentially what is on your TDA account can be moved to your Schwab account.

If you start mucking around and attempt to rebuild your library on your own. It does affect their ability to port your setup over. So you need to call them for the fix before making changes to your Schwab ToS libraries.
(FYI, this was explained in the TDA FAQs that were posted before the integration).

While this is an easy fix. It is not that simple. Traders, who 'lost' their TDA ToS set-ups, tend to have fatal problems with their accounts:
IE: not in the US, unable to verify their identity, or that the ToS account was theirs or their type of brokerage account is not supported at Schwab, etc. etc.
These type of issues do result in having to start an account from scratch.

My fatal problem: I had several ToS accounts setup with separate ToS libraries.
Schwab does not support separate accounts. They lumped all our accounts together.
Schwab only migrated the library from the account that I designated as my main Schwab account access.

I have chosen to not have my other libraries ported over.

Interesting trivia facts:

when Schwab lumped all the accounts together, the default ToS trading account is the oldest account. In my case, the ToS app defaulted to trading with a TDA account, I closed 10-years ago. as other members have mentioned. I had scanners that were either from my other libraries or were just old deleted scan files; show up alive and well. Took awhile to delete scan scripts.​

My conversion for my 3 TDA accounts resulted in 4 accounts showing up at Schwab. They ported over an account I thought was closed as well. Never received a statement or notices from TDA in the YEARS that it was, I thought, transferred/combined into a different TDA IRA account. Pleasant surprise as that small account had one stock and some cash. The stock went up over 400% in it's dormancy. Of course, that transaction would have occurred back when you had local TDA branch offices to go to, so who knows what they did or didn't do.

I was switched from TD tto Schwab last weekend.In the process all of my tos setup, such as watchlist, grids, studies, chart drawings, etc, were lost. 13+ years of setup, all gone. Has anyone else had this experience. Schwab reps have escalated this situation tinternally, but I've not heard a response. Reason for this hwas that all my setup was associated with a closed acct (one of three), and the closed acct went away over the weekend.

Issues with account status on either the Schwab side or TDA side account for the majority of the fatal migration errors discussed here:

Fatal errors are being dealt with by customer support on a case-by-case basis.
Sorry. No one can accurately predict the outcome of your case. Until support looks into what can be recovered.

All my stuff came over very clean. Only issue I have is buying and selling activity feels very clunky. I am not getting good fills. Got to a point I was searching for an alternative broker yesterday but really just don't want to pay for it. Trade Station was on my short list, but I just feel like I would not be satisfied there either. So for the time being, I will stay with ToS for awhile and hope things will get smoother.

Ever since the big Schwab switch a week or so ago, I have a problem I cannot seem to solve. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Whenever I load a workspace, the home screen appears instead of the charts. In the settings, I have "last used" selected to be shown on startup. Whenever I save that setting and restart the program, the setting reverts to "home screen." I just cannot make the program save "last used" under settings

What am I doing wrong?

Delete the usergui folder:

Exit the thinkorswim software.
Right click on the thinkorswim icon.
Left-click on PROPERTIES.
Left-click on OPEN FILE LOCATION.
In the resulting window, right-click on the USERGUI folder.
Left-click on DELETE.
Restart thinkorswim.

Setup > Application Settings... > verify/modify your desired settings beginning with Account

Once all options are set:
Setup > Save Workspace as...
Close ToS platform and restart program.

My transition was completed on May 13th. TOS appears to be converted complete. So no transitional learning or changes needed. I really appreciate that.

The Schwab desktop, now that is another story. There are many additional clicks required to get here to there on that platform.

The biggest issue or annoying thing i noticed is... Alert transfer....
All the notes ... on why u set it u and what to do... vanished...
Totally irritating .... but okay to live with it... now got to study why u wrote the alert..

we should incorporate the idea that complex systems can create unexpected misbehavior even if 99.99% of the time things go smoothly. in practical terms, we should position ourselves as if, at any time, our platform would fail, and then evaluate what kind of measure we could preemptively take to avoid catastrophes in our portfolio. to me it looks some OCO GTC orders could be something that can be in place just for situations like that, but I am sure someone can come with other ideas also to share

I deleted my usergui directory and cleared cache from the TOS login panel and then was able to login... May have been coincidence but anyone still experiencing issues to try those two procedures as it can't hurt...

Members still having difficulty signing in, need to clear their cache:

1. click the gear at the bottom of the login screen
2. click on Clear cache and restart

Clearing the cache is a good habit to get into before each login attempt.
Especially as Schwab is pushing new builds through at a fast & furious pace.

Guys, is anyone having problems with the TOS platform this morning? I am with the help desk and they can't explain it. The TOS platform is not working this morning, and it is on their end.

Members are still reporting that they have to "clear cache" in order to log-on.

From what Schwab stated yesterday, the clear cache button clears the saved log-on name and biometrics. Therefore, if you don't click "save sign-on name" and if you don't use biometrics, there is no need to clear cache of the problems that Schwab is currently having.

The ToS mobile issues are still ongoing. If having difficulty, Schwab recommends signing on to the Schwab site first and then attempt to access the ToS mobile app

I just got booted, then it told me that my password was incorrect over multiple attempts. This is the second time that it has happened. The first time, it eventually worked itself out with time. This time, I cleared the cache and it was fine after that.

I was also getting an error report every time I logged in for a while. That's finally fixed too now that I cleared the cache. My message center (in my side bar) has been completely blank for a while too. Clearing the cache seems to have fixed that as well. It's been dead for so long that it looked weird to finally see text in there.
