Schwab-TDA Merger: Thoughts, Rumors, Sightings...

Yes, there were difficulties with some of the earlier migration groups not having their custom studies available at their initial sign-on.
Schwab created a procedure to port individual libraries to resolve the problem.
None of the subsequent migration moves experienced this issue.

Does anyone have a solution for performing custom scans? How are people dealing with the lack of access in Canada?

My concern is we don't have an alternative. I'm wondering what others are doing.

FYI:

Workspaces and any saved links are not stored on TDA servers, therefore they will not be transferred.
To reload those:
1. create shared links before May 10th.
2. WRITE THOSE LINKS DOWN IN A SAFE PLACE!
Workspaces and links will NOT be in your library in the Schwab ToS version.
3. sign-in May 13th or after, with your Schwab log-on
4. load your shared workspaces and links. Click here for --> Easiest way to load shared links
It's strange that this works. While you can't share links between current Schwabbies and TD members. You can open the links you made in TD just fine later in Schwab. Must be some backward compatibility thing or something.

Also, can I assume any settings/history I have in the paper trading space will be deleted? Not a huge deal, but just curious.

If your account has already been moved over to Schwab, where you able to access TOS to work your ThinkScript coding or were you completely locked out of TOS during the weekend it moved?

Hi thank you for answering some of these questions!

i have multiple tda accounts and scheduled to move 5/10. after the transition i only use the thinkorswim mobile phone app. is there a way i dont have to see my ira acct and my roth ira and only see the one account. i rarely check the other 2 accounts and dont want to see all of them at once.
also for my main account i have setup each multiple time frames with the charts i want. hourly, 5 min, daily, weekly. with different chart studies. do i need to do anything to keep my iphone setup exactly like this?

I was unable to log into TOS during the move.

It has been verified. If your accounts are being transitioned over this weekend.
PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT TO LOG-ON into the Schwab ToS app BEFORE MONDAY, MAY 13TH 5AM

Doing so, could have deleterious effects on whether your ThinkOrSwim settings, custom studies, scans, watchlists, etc. are successfully transferred over from the TDA servers to the Schwab servers.

Thanks MerryDay for all the insight, info and suggestions! I did log in to TOS desktop earlier this evening and all good! Waiting for the rest tomorrow! Thanks again!!

There are a few members who, for various reasons, lose their custom studies during the migration.

It is not a big deal.
Schwab developed a utility that manually will bring over all the ToS settings, watchlists, scans, charts, studies to the Schwab servers.

HERE IS THE CATCH:
You have to call them immediately and have it done.
If you start playing and attempting to rebuild on your own; the utility has difficulty bringing over a clean setup.

@OwenM
Has anyone load up a workspace only to see its completely generic chart layouts? Is this something Schwab can fix?

I never logged in during the transition process.

I have a risk-rewards indicator that I rely upon for trading, but since the transition from TD to Schwab it seems as if some very simple code is no longer working correctly. It's as if information can no longer be pulled related to the trades I have taken. Has anyone else experienced something similar?

This is one indicator I don't typically share publically, but happy to give a free copy to anyone who can help me figure out why these functions are no longer working as expected.

Code:
def qty  = GetQuantity();

def avg = GetAveragePrice();

def Shares_Risk = Floor(Size);

def purchase = qty * avg ;

Schwab reports that there is a temporary problem with portfolio functions as they integrate access with Schwab back office.

Give it a day or two.
After that, if still seeing issues, please report back.

Monday morning when I logged into the new Schwab/ToS platform I discovered 2 things:

1) The account was defaulted to my cash account, not the margin account I had set as default in old ToS.
2) My Workspace was set to a different Workspace than I normally use.

Both issues were easily changed to my preferred defaults.

I opened my TOS platform Sunday for the futures open but had no scripts. Monday a.m they were there but not on the workspace charts I saved. So I have try and remember the name of the scripts and put them back on my charts manually. Not only that but Tos platform take about 15-minutes to load the charts and get the quotes to update on all 3 of my computers. They say it is my internet but it never did that before the transition this weekend. all other software programs work fine but not TOS. BIG disappointment for me after using TOS for about 15 years :-(

No. Unfortunately, workspaces are saved to your personal computer so Schwab has no record of it.

My workspaces are intact, across a couple of rigs and multiple ToS instances running.

However, workspaces have flukey problems even in the best of times.

Best practices is to group indicators that you commonly use together into saved sets.
To save the complete chart with indicators, aggregations, and chart settings, do a save grid.
And then do a workspace save for all those detached widgets; but also do a workspace share link.

I have had enough corrupted workspaces, to know to not count on them.
The saved sets and grids are on the Schwab servers, linked to the indicators on Schwab servers.
They will never give you a problem.
