I modified a version of SuperTrend that is already available for Thinkorswim to imitate the style.

You are on the right track. You don’t need the plot for LongDot. You can just change the LongTrigger from a dev to plot.

Until the candle closes, current state repaints. However, once the candle is closed, it’s static.
Hi Barbaros, first i wanna say thanks for the modified version of this supertrend study, i like it very much (y)

I also wanted to ask if it´s possible to make the alert only trigger when the candle with the buy/sell signal has closed in order to prevent having too many false signals? So basically, as soon as the candle has closed with the signal still there, the audio alert gets triggered.

Sure @zeek, here is a version where you can adjust the alert displacement. It is set to 0 that will make it trigger on the same bar. If you want it trigger after the bar closes, set it to 1.

Really like this version of Supertrend. Installed it on TOS and I use it to trade SPY options on 5 minute. Works pretty well. However, is it possible to add code to generate these signals also using 2 moving averages? For example, can we add a code that a long signal will only print if a 14 period moving average is above a 21? And a short to print if the 14 is below the 21? This would eliminate some choppy prints. Thoughts anyone?

I use a plain chart with the 10 and 20 EMA’s to enter trades. That’s all I use now succeasfuly, but what I am trying to accomplish is to incorporate the supertrend’s signals as confirmation of direction, which I think it does a pretty good job of doing. So the idea is to have supertrend print signals only when they align with my 10 and 20 EMA’s. I will then decide if I want to take the trade as I presently do. I don’t need to do testing because I do mot blindly enter into trades and I do not follow “good back testing” results, as none of that works. So maybe you misunderstood me as someone looking for the holy grail. Not so. My system works, I just want visualizations to make faster decisions. So can we add the script and label and can I show you how I do it?

I am wondering if you can write a simple label script that will show if the 10 is above the 20, it's bullish, if 10 below the 20, bearish. I will then be able to see multiple charts quickly and immediately identify existing trends and whether charts meet my criteria for taking a trade. I've noticed that the best time to enter seems to be when price crosses from being beneath the red supertrend line to being above the green supertrend line, and I'm wondering if a scanner can alert me to that change. Whenever I try to set scanner conditions like that, it either offers no results or tells me that the code is too complex to work in real time. Does that make sense?
