No, I was told by a TOS devopment employee that they do not and contrary to belief, It cannot be programmed into TOS either. The only work around would be to run a scan of the SP500 for Percent Above 50 Day or what ever and see what the count is. Yes it's lame & sad, but when The thinkscript language was created by the Russian coders nearly 20 years ago, they left out the ability to do that simple task.
Please call the Advanced Support Team at this number and ask. Hopefully they can build it into the web version which is still in beta.

@markos is exactly right. This was even discussed at length in the lounge on several occasions and the method you described is exactly what the general consensus from the room was, including Mobius'. One workaround I can think of (can't think of why anyone would want to do this though) is to write a study with a label that includes tickers of all 500 stocks and run a simple condition test of the 50DMA against that. I did something similar based on the S&P 100 years ago as a test. Only problem is when the index components gets updated, your code would have to be updated. Still it was a fun exercise to go through the specifics though.
