ThinkorSwim Watchlist Scanner Alerts Not Working

Anyone else have issues with custom strategy based watchlist alerts not being pushed to mobile? I talked to ThinkorSwim support and I believe they said watchlist scans update every 3 minutes...so it could potentially miss an alert if your agg. is <3min, but I still don't get all alerts pushed to my mobile with a 5 min agg.

Anyone know of a way to make these more consistent or anyone else experiencing the same issue? I am talking about using custom scan watchlist alerts because a strategy such as SuperTrend uses recursive variables and you cannot use the usual study alerts.

@Break Trader Your watchlist is working fine for me... No errors but, then again, the markets are closed... However, everything comes into play as far as resources... If you have a lot of complex studies on charts they also contribute to the overall workload...

Thank you for your report, i closed out all charts and still get the same error on just a few symbols. and it uses a lot of memory when on just those few symbols but seems fine on all the other symbols.
Symbols cause the "custom expression" are AMZN, TSLA, SHOP, NFLX, NVDA, ADBE, Q's, AAPL, SPY, BABA, DIA, ZM and NOW. only 13 of 41 symbols
Not sure why but it seems its mainly tech equities giving me the errors.

@Break Trader Have you tried rebuilding the watchlist from scratch and deleting the original...???

Also, just for shits and giggles, close TOS and delete the usergui directory... And before you do that, goto Help > System and Click on Collect Garbage...

i have already went to used memory page and did the collect garbage and then closed TOS and deleted the userGUI file in think or swim, no change.
as far as rebuilding the watch list, i have cleared my watch list from all custom scripts, problem is i cant figure out how to delete the custom scripts from the custom quotes section of the watch list

You really should delete that watchlist altogether, not simply clean it up and try to rebuild it... Just as with issues I've had, it's the window itself that is corrupt, not the data or scripts within... I've gone that route and deleting the window in question has been the only fix... Detach and Close... Then restart TOS before rebuilding...

As far as the Custom scripts, delete the content and rename back to Custom##...

Thank you Rad, it took some time but for now i got it working, i reset my work space to default then rebuilt my list and added the custom scripts one by one and so far so good

Ahhh, the missing piece of the puzzle... Forgot to mention that I've also replaced my Workspace in the past to resolve issues... And I forgot to backup my XML files beforehand so I had to reconfigure my preferences... That's a last ditch effort that usually works... You should be good to go...!!!

luckily I had some chart study's saved so I didn't have to really rebuild my charts, just my watch list then re save the set up

if you have custom columns under the options table and have alot of strikes listed it will give you that error as well, you can try lessening the amount of strikes show if you have custom columns listed there.

So i added Opening Range Break out back to my charts this morning and it sent my watch list back into being no good again, so im guessing that script is corrupt

Where do you find old deleted watchlist? I've been looking for the servers you were talking about.

@Bustergold The discussion was about what TOS saves to your hard drive. Items like your watchlist are only saved on the TOS servers. If you deleted it. Then you deleted it from the TOS servers.

@scott69 Can you explain in detail how exactly you do the rigid backup process?

I use an SD card. You can use any media, USB, cloud, etc. I do a file compare of the backup folder on the SD to the folder on C:\thinkorswim. I first do a one-way copy of C to card (for windows, I have found that FreeCommander is the best dual pane file explorer and has excellent file compare abilities. It is portable and shsreware). Then I list thefiles on the card that are no longer on the C drive. These are older files and should be deleted.I do a seperate backup on friday for redundency. (On the SD card I have a folder called "thinkorswim_friday) This process has been especially beneficial after TOS does major changes over the weekends. I can always tell when major updates occur because on monday, nearly every file is replaced or gone on the C drive. As a side note, I showed my daughter "paper money" last week and nothing really transfers over from "real" to paper. You need to "share" all of your work (workspaces and grids) and then restore your work from the links of your "shares."

Hello. I'm trying to use the volume accumulation as a scan for when a stock crossed -50.00 in that indicator graph value. Seems to be showing me incorrect search results. I tried using some other volume accumulation indicators like one posted on this website, but getting the same incorrect search results. Using the day time frame. I thought it was interested that FB had some values of -50 or greater over the past month or two, while some stocks aren't anywhere near that.

Hi Ben, thanks for the reply . I was trying just like your setting but with a -50 value. See your scan on Pepsico is showing -.75 on the daily vol accumulation, so that's not showing accurate with a 50 value either. Is that what your daily is showing?

@surfmang You said you wanted to find stocks with VC "crossed -50.00."

If the VC value went from 5 to -60, then it qualifies as crossing below -50. If that is not what you want, you may want to rephrase your condition.

Ah I see. I'm really looking for when stocks on the daily cross below the -50 mark that's on the right side measurement of the tool here. Here's FB I've drawn a line in red where it was actually at -46. But I'm looking for whenever it crossed the -50.00 mark. But my scans don't seem to pull those up no matter how I edit the scan parameters. Let me know please if you're able to find a setting that works.
