So I have a basic programming understanding from looking at other scripts over the years, but can't figure this one out. I'm sure it's simple for the higher skilled people here.
I have chart indicator I use that basically says "if all conditions are met for a long entry, place an arrow over the candlestick". It does this every time the criteria is met. How I use it is that I wait for the 2nd bar (on a 5M chart) to break the high of the previous. If it does, I take the position.
I can get the thing to alert every time the arrow is painted, but I don't want an alert until the 2nd bar breaks the first "trigger bar". It's a trend indicator, so I usually have 5-12 bars that are painted in a row.
Hope I explained this right. Makes sense in my head.... but so do all the voices.
