Desktop application doesn't appear after log-in

I'm having a rather odd issue with the desktop app on both my MacBook Pro and my iMac. I open the app and enter my log-in info, which the app accepts, but then the app itself doesn't appear on the screen. It shows as being open in my dock at the bottom of the screen just isn't there on my screen. Any idea what's going on?
I think I figured it out. Apparently, the memory settings can get messed up after updates. I clicked on the gear symbol at the login screen and redid the memory settings. It seems to be working now.
