Custom Column with Text/Number for Sorting

Hi Everyone!
Semi-newbie here. I'm looking for a way to add a custom column that I can type in a letter or number and sort. My goal is to take the S&P 500 and sort by SPY or SPX weight in the index.
Your help is greatly appreciated.

here is one way, to list a number in a column, depending on the stock. as you can see, the formula will get very long, very fast, if you try to have it check many stocks.
the numbers are the weights of 10 stocks, from the link below.

Thank you for your help. What I did was to copy the list, by weight, into an Excel spreadsheet, then created a watchlist, so when I use "No sorting" it sorts by the original symbol input, which was by weight. I will probably have to refresh the list occasionally, since the weights vary from time-to-time, but for now this works well. In fact, I've made watch lists for the S&P 500 (100% of weight), 300 (92% of weight), and 100 (68% of weight).
