Trading Heart-to-Heart

Hi everyone,

I've been trying to learn trading for a few years now. I've encountered a ton of different ways to trade, whether it be through fundamentals, volume profile and analysis, price action, candlestick patterns, and maybe a kajillion different indicators.

What makes things even more complicated is how these methods can change amongst different securities/instruments (forex, futures, equities, options, etc.) It's been hard to determine what works and what doesn't work. I had some friends see my trading screen on accident the other day and they saw all my indicators (MAs, TTMSqueeze, SlimRibbon, FE, WoodiesCCI, etc) and they akined my screen to the astrology of investments.

I know trading is quite a journey, but I've come across very scarce stories of success these days – so I figured I'd ask you guys. I guess what I'm asking is, have some of you truly found a system that works? Or does someone you know really trade profitably?

I don't need to know what the strategy is or anything, but since I'm 24 and just now starting to look at my career, I guess I'm just hoping for an indication of hope/encouragement. Thanks in advance lads.

You're still very young. This stage, it's one of the best times to learn.

Take things slowly, don't jam yourself with so much trading data and strategies at once.

If you're just getting started, you should familiarize yourself with the fundamentals.

In addition:

• Take a systematic approach to testing rather than jumping from one idea/approach to another.
• Risk management and emotional control are very important.
• Learn support and resistance levels.
• Create your watchlist based on solid stocks.
