Scripts Time Out in Conditional Orders

Hi @MerryDay, on your previous post: https://usethinkscript.com/threads/answers-to-commonly-asked-questions.6006/post-80482, you mentioned that, "It should be noted that the ToS condition wizard has limited capabilities, many scripts time out and / or are too complex, or cannot be used." May you please explain what you mean by that, "scripts time out?"

You also later mentioned, "Most studies are formatted to be used on charts. To optimize an existing script for use in conditional orders, scans, and chart alerts, all formatting statements need to be removed, along with any other coding not directly related to creating the signal." Do you have any examples of acceptable and unacceptable scripts for conditional orders that I would please be able to reference to learn more about this? Thank you very much for your time and your help.

As the post states. The condition wizard in scans, watchlists, and conditional orders is throttled by TDA to conserve resources.

The workaround of removing the formatting statements tends to only help in limited circumstances where the script is relatively simple to start with.

Here is what formatting statements look like:

hope this helps.

Hi @MerryDay, I apologize, I was not able to find out more information regarding what it means for the script to "time out." If I understand this correctly, the script can time out during scans. May you please explain what it means for a script to "time out?" Thank you very much for your time and your help.

The same condition wizard engine is utilized in scans, watchlists and conditional orders.
TDA only provides limited resources for the condition wizard.

If you provide a script that is causing you issues. We can review it and let you know if there is anyway to reduce it to something that will run in the scanner.
