I noticed on Trading View people are selling indicators via subscription models etc. Is there a way to do that for sharing/selling an indicator, chart set up etc in TOS? So setting a date for expiration or deleting a shared item to a specific person? So the indicators that are shared here for the upgraded members could be shared with those who are not members?

The subscription models on TradingView allow for an indicator to be used for a limited time but the script is never provided.
There is no way to protect code similarly in ToS:

No, there is no way to hide custom script code on the ToS platform.
TDA has the ability to hide their source code on some of their built-in indicators. But they do not provide that ability to us to hide our custom-coded scripts.

No, the ToS platform does not provide for calling external subroutines / APIs within a thinkscript study.

My question was about locking the ThinkScript so it could be shared without revealing the code that generates the studies. They said it was not possible although TDA does lock some indicators. They suggested programming in another language on another programming platform and then locking that code. Perhaps they were talking about creating something completely outside ThinkOrSwim but it sounded like they thought it is possible to import a study that is written in another language. Is that possible?

Yes, they are talking about running your script outside of the ToS platform using an API to execute.

Yes, that is true. They will not be taking new registrations until late this year.
But APIs are difficult. You can fine-tune your process by practicing with a macro recorder to make sure your API will send the right signals:
