Hey guys

I am trying get this to buy and/or sell when price crosses above the close of a specific date and sell when price closes below that same specific date.. this is what i ahve so far.

def priceAtDate = if GetYYYYMMDD() == 20210901 then close else Double.NaN;
plot scan = priceAtDate;
scan.SetPaintingStrategy(PaintingStrategy.ARROW_UP);

input price = close;

AddOrder(OrderType.BUY_AUTO, price >(PaintingStrategy.ARROW_UP), tickcolor = GetColor(6), arrowcolor = GetColor(6));
AddOrder(OrderType.SELL_AUTO, price < (PaintingStrategy.ARROW_UP), tickcolor = GetColor(5), arrowcolor = GetColor(5));

The buy parameter in addorder isn't right. you can't compare a variable to a painting strategy.

change this
price >(PaintingStrategy.ARROW_UP),

to this
price > priceAtDate

As you have it, This variable will have a price on only one bar, so all the others will be NAN and won't be able to be compared to the current close. I'm going to assume you don't want to compare close to a date price that is in the future. use this To keep the price from that 1 date in the variable for all the bars after that date,
change it to this,

def priceAtDate = if barnumber() == 1 then Double.NaN else if GetYYYYMMDD() == 20210901 then close else priceAtDate[1];
