Opening Range Breakout (ORB) Scanner for ThinkorSwim

New to ToS and this forum. Realize this is an old thread but, how can I modify the SCAN to only show the results when the chart would show a green arrow?

Other filters to help with a large ORB list are 'market maker move > 1', 'volume > 1 million', and 'last price >10'. That yields me a daily list of 3-10 instruments. Of course, this also means that sometimes, the list misses big, active instruments like AAPL, TSLA, or NFLX...

Is there a way to add a filter based on the price distance between ORH2/ORL2 and the white lines above and below? I have found that when this distance is large, ORB generates good trades.

It appears that you are seeking to modify a script. Unfortunately, it is not possible to know which script, within the 11 pages, you are discussing.

To ensure that contributors can assist you effectively, it is requested that you follow these steps:

1. Link, Copy and paste any scripts or indicators that you are mentioning into your post.

2. Be as specific as possible regarding what criteria or parameters you are requiring.
Remember, you are the architect. The contributors need you to provide detailed blueprints, in order, to bring your vision to life.
Whether a member chooses to take on your project; is 100% dependent on your ability to clearly articulate what you are requesting.

3. Providing a chart image annotated with the confluence you are seeking can greatly assist contributors in understanding your needs and providing accurate assistance.
Include the WHOLE chart, so members can see what you are seeing.

Here is a scanner for the ORB indicator (Opening Range Breakout) that you can run in your ThinkorSwim. Get alerted for when a stock is breaking out or breaking down as they happen.

Add the ORB indicator if you haven't done so.

thinkScript Code

Rich (BB code):
# Clayburgs Directional Day Filter
# Written by KumoBob Dec 31 2009

# Thanks to ThinkScriptor and aPPLE_PI for helping me with the secondsfromtime() function by showing me the code writen by Prospectus in his Opening Range study.

# Directional Day Filter Line - After the first five minutes calculate the average range for this 5-minute bar. Draw a horizontal line at this level.
# Time Line - Draw a vertical line at 60-minute bar (Low to High of the day so far).
# (slower value for faster moving charts like currency and S&P – Faster value for slower moving charts) (45 minutes to 90 minutes)
# Determine the amount of activity above and below the Directional Day Filter Line prior to the Time Line.
# (A rectangle can be drawn with Blue shading above and Red below the Directional Day Filter Line)
# If the majority of the activity is above the Directional Day Filter Line the trend bias for the day will be higher.
# If the majority of the activity is below the Directional Day Filter Line the trend bias for the day will be lower.
# If it's even the day will most likely be flat.
# If the closing bar on the Time Line is within 1/3 the distance from the Directional Day Filter Line then added bias can be anticipated.

#hint: Best used in a 1 to 5 minute chart period

The Setup

I made some changes to the indicator. Mostly cosmetic stuff so it's easier for me to look at. Basically, I just wanted to know where the Bull Zone and Bear Zone are. Some of you may remember that from the previous ORB post.

Anyways, here's what the Opening Range setup looks like on my chart.

Getting Started with Opening Rage Scanner

Once you installed the indicator, switch over the the Scan tab. Here you want to click on Add study filter.

View attachment 4328

Click on the Pencil icon > Delete any existing conditions that ThinkorSwim gave you. Then, click Add condition.
Under -Select a Condition- > Select Price > Close. For the middle field, choose crosses. On the right field, select your ORB indicator. Under plot > ORH2 within 2 bars. Altogether you'll have something like this.

View attachment 4329

Repeat the same process again, begin with adding a new condition then under Plot select ORL2.

View attachment 4330

Make sure all the options are the same in this picture. As for as aggregation period, I have it set to the 5 min timeframe. However, you can change it to whichever timeframe you use your ORB indicator on.

Click Ok and click the green Scan button. You should be good to go. Enjoy :)
I've added ORH2 successfully, when i try to add second condition ORL2ext (this is the name in the latest TOS version) i am getting this error: com.devexperts.tos.thinkscript.runtime.TooComplexException: The complexity of the expression suggests that it may not be reliable with real-time data.

at this point i cannot click okay as it is greyed out. below is what in the inspector:

close crosses ORB("cloud on" = yes, "show today only" = "No")."ORH2ext" within 2 bars and close crosses ORB("cloud on" = yes, "show today only" = "No")."ORL2ext"

I've trying to modify this with or instead of and close crosses... but still unable to save. any help appreciated

Schwab limits the amount of resources available in scans, watchlists, and conditional orders.
Your script's requirements exceeds the maximum resources available.
Meaning, your script modification is too complicated for use in the ToS Scan Hacker..

The easy way around it is to add these two as separate conditions... see this screenshot for example:
