How To Define Colors

Hi,
I am about to give up.

I've create a label, and just want to change the color based on the quote value. I have used this same logic to compare other data, so I'm wondering if $ADVN returns a string or something different. Thank you so much for any help in advance!!!

def advn = close(symbol = "$ADVN");
AddLabel(yes, "advn:" + advn, if advn < 320 then color.green else color.gray);

Ideally I would want to not hardcode the number or colors:

If I can get this working, I will be super super grateful!

Ideally I would want to abstract the numbers and colors out, but I also can't figure out the syntax for the color. Many thanks!
def cold = Color.GRAY;
def warm = Color.DARK_GREEN;
def coldpoint = 320;
def advn = close(symbol = "$ADVN");
AddLabel(yes, "advn:" + advn, if advn < coldpoint then warm);

1. Adding an input symbol allows you to easily change symbols. It is referenced in the def advn and the label also.
2. TOS does not allow the def colors as you used them. Instead use the built-in defineglobalcolor() function to do this. You can then change the warm/cold colors at the input screen under globals dropdown or within the code
3. The def (recursive) is often used to use the prior value of the close in the event there is not another bar on the chart you are viewing that matches the bars found on def advn
4. The symbol needs to be referenced as close("symbol" = "$ADVN") or close("$ADVN")
Code:
input symbol = "$ADVN";

DefineGlobalColor("cold", Color.GRAY);
DefineGlobalColor("warm", Color.DARK_GREEN);

def coldpoint = 320;
def advn = if IsNaN(close(symbol)) then advn[1] else close(symbol);

AddLabel(yes, symbol + " " + advn, if advn < coldpoint then GlobalColor("warm") else GlobalColor("cold"));
