Greetings,
I'm looking for a script that will calculate the percentile for ATR given whatever period is on the chart. For example, if ATR is low, say the 25th percentile, I'd like to have a label that shows that.
I'm attempting to utilize a combination of ATR, RSI, and Keltner channels to detect periods of consolidation. Maybe I'm overthinking it. If there are any suggestions for detecting consolidation, please let me know. My goal is to first identify consolidation then trade when outside that range. I'm usually on the 3m chart or 15m chart.
My objective was to identify the current ATR in relation to the past ATR, similar to IV Percentile, where the current implied volatility is compare to the last 252 days and determines if implied volatility is higher than usual.
What I'm trying to identify is stocks where the ATR is higher now then in the last year. For example, "current ATR is in the 80th percentile when compared to the last year, so the stock is having wider swings than usual.
I was hoping this would be a way to normalize ATR so i could scan for it as well as have a label that let's me quickly know if the stock is ranges are higher than in the past.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thank you.
