A Simple Day Trading Strategy for Beginners For ThinkOrSwim

Good morning @BenTen. Thank you very much for your advice. This is what I want as a starter point. I will try to draw the patterns you suggested. I searched briefly wedge patter indicator on this site and I found one you posted. I will give try. I will also draw by myself. Please let me know if there is any specific indictors for wedges or I should just draw.

Thank you and good luck with today's trading.

Hi Ben, this is my first question so hope I do it right. I understand how Pre-Market High and Lows help you to make a decision when trading but does the AH from the day before come in to play at all? I have been using the highs and Lows from both but now I think I am doing it wrong. Should I only be using PreMarket data only?

Thanks for all you do, I love reading through these threads.

@tenacity11 could you please your chart settings? I would like to get colored candles like you where you have the pink candle before sell signal and teal color before buy signal. Also how do you get the buy and sell signals? Can you share that coding too? Thank you

Code:

# As requested by chillc15 I have modified [USER=1174]@RobertPayne[/USER] code to include SwingHigh
# points which are now plotted in CYAN with the swing high points painted in PINK.
# So now you have both swing high and low on your charts

I am trying to write a script to be able to scan for some of the basic chart patterns (like Double/Tripple Top/Bottom, Head and Shoulders etc.) with some additional parameters, and I tried to use the Patterns in TOS. It's not working for me, I tried to search for other patterns - one may see some of the others but not these ones I mentioned.

Is there a way to code this type of a script (let's say, Double Top from the picture you posted)? Maybe you can post a sample so that I may proceed based on something.

Thanks.

@nickolaustort No, those patterns are too subjective.
OK, let's formalize at least one pattern signal:
Double Top false breakout- an impulse containing rising bars, a top, a correction to this impulse not to exceed 30%, next approach to the previous top, false break and immediate price return below the top level- and this produces a signal.
Is it possible to code this?

  • Will it repaint? Once the arrow is shown, will it disappear after a couple of candles?

Hi @BenTen @tenacity11, after one week starring at S/R, i am kind of tired and frustrated. I really want to learn the skills of day/swing trading and after reading so many post and scripts and watching over 50hrs of videos, I am completely lost and dont know what should i do next. I am not running behind $$ at this point, I want to learn the skills and hopefully apply these skills in near future to earn some $$.

I am lost and any help, suggestion is much appreciated.

KKaiser.
I can help you

this is how it appears on a 5m. Price action simplicity
Yes, I would suggest B&W chart,..it took me 3 days to never want to use black background. Your eye picks up pattern easier. One chart with VolStop and the other,...trend only,...but trend is the easiest,.....buy at support, sell at resistance or break of trend, this was a buy early on and sell at consolidation, it never broke trend and is now trending,...moving toward trend....
