Trendline Placement

Drawing a trendline is nice because you have control where to place it. Is it possible to create a study to do the same, to have some control where to place the trendline? In addition, be able to use that trendline to automatically trigger a sell/buy order when price crosses it.

any more of an answer will require a lot of specific rules to define where a trendline is to be drawn
