ThinkorSwim won't install on my Linux

I cannot run or install thinkorswim. When I click the icon, it loads for a moment and then stops loading.

When I try to install I get the below error.

sudo sh ./thinkorswim_installer.sh
Starting Installer ...
java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Could not initialize class java.awt.Container

Java appears up to date.

java -version
openjdk version "14.0.2" 2020-07-14
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (build 14.0.2+12)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 14.0.2+12, mixed mode)

I had uninstalled it to see if that would fix the issue, but I had to pass the -c option (uninstall -c) to bypass the graphic interface.

Anyone know the magic sauce needed to get it to run?

I'm using Arch Linux. Kernel 5.7.8

I don't have any experience troubleshooting on a Linux machine, so I can't provide much support regarding this issue. Have you tried following the instructions on this page? I would also get in touch with TD Ameritrade's support team.

thinkorswim requires Zulu OpenJDK 8 to run

I wonder if that was changed recently?

Yea, I sent a message to their support center at tdameritrade.com

Ok... Yea, that was the problem. They must have updated to zulu java this year for whatever reason.

You just install the AUR package: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/zulu-14-bin/

Then do archlinux-java set zulu-14 or whatever version.

use latest openjdk and in order to run tos on linux you have to run it as sudo (self installing updates). similar to the windows version runs and activates the Windows UAC.
