Have over 500 stocks I've set alerts on. Created a watchlist to monitor. Need a Script to scan and narrow down to the best 20 to hold for 11 years (retirement date). If anyone knows of one or how easily build one, I'm all ears.
@$maker You're thinking along the right lines with reducing your "basket" of Stocks... Spending more time filtering out good opportunities from bad is time consuming and you'll eventually miss good trades while looking...
Back when I traded more symbols I had a list of 100 Stocks that I liked and were decent performers... I used to monitor all of those in off hours and then kept a list of ~20 symbols that I learned intimately... Then from that 20 I would further refine down to 8 - 10 symbols that were positioned to make decent predictable moves for the Day/Week that I would trade from... As time goes on most experienced traders continually monitor the broader market but concentrate on a choice few symbols... Some traders only trade the Magnificent 7, AAPL, AMZN, GOOGL, META, MSFT, NVDA, TSLA while others prefer Penny Stocks or mid-range equities... These days I only trade Options for a single symbol, SPY... Others might only Trade Options for SPX, /ES, /NQ, /MNQ, etc...
You can create your "short list" using Stock Hacker... Don't worry, you can't break the anything by playing with various Scans... Concentrating on price range, average volumes, volatility, and whatever other key factors you desire will allow you to narrow down the entire Stock Market to a manageable list you can then learn and maintain...
Perhaps if you told us what your short and long term trading goals are, as well as your trading experience, we can help you further refine your "basket" in an effort to help you achieve your goals... Also, are you looking for long term (with or without dividends), short term, day trading, scalping opportunities...???
