I'm seeking the sage opinions of those who have traded as both swing traders as well as day traders.
Does swing trading provide the same returns as day trading?
Background:
I'm retired. Founded and exited 2 software development companies, was an adjunct professor in comp sci, lead sales for several startups.
Over the last 6 months I have been using multiple AGAIG indicators provided by @csricksdds backed up by other indicators (VWAP, PPS, MACD, RSI, ATR, vol, etc.)
Due to my comfort level, I only trade long equities (but that will change as I continue to get educated).
When I am able to day trade, I have been averaging about 0.38% return per trading day.
Great results, but I have to sit and stare at the screen multiple hours per day. This prevents me from doing the life things that I want to do (church volunteer, golf with my sons, travel with my wife, etc.). And because of those life choices I do not trade every day. Thus, the portfolio sits idle with cash while I am out having fun.
My biggest personal hurdle is believing that swing trading can work given that when I am staring at the 30 sec screen, I see price moves that can be captured that I struggle to believe are captured in swing trading.
Serious thanks in advance for feedback from those who have switched trading methods and are willing to share their results and factors in those decisions.
