by using a date function to generate a number, it will work.
this uses getyear() to calculate '23' for the year.
( i don't know why, it just does)

Code:
# option_sym2_00

#https://usethinkscript.com/threads/create-option-code.16760/
#Create Option Code

declare lower;

input s = "SPY";
def d = 231020;
def sp = 435;

def yr1 = getyear();
def yr2 = floor(yr1 / 100);
def yr3 = yr2 *100;
def yr = yr1-yr3;
def mo = 10;

#def yr = 23;
#def mo = getmonth();
def dy = 20;

plot z2 = close("."+s+yr+mo+dy+"C"+sp);
#

(side note...
input s = "SPY";
def d = 230922;
def sp = 435;

plot x = close(".spy230922C435"); #------------- this line works

(side note, sometimes , depending on the option function used, an option symbol needs to point to a friday, sometimes a saturday)

Solution
It's interpreting the date as "230,922" with a comma, not as "230922"

Use AsPrice() on the date to eliminate commas and unnecessary decimal places.

Code:
plot oc = close("." + s + AsPrice(d) + "C" + AsPrice(sp));

AsText() will force the unnecessary ".00", so don't use that.
