Hello everyone,

I'm back today with a pretty unique indicator for evaluating market trend and conditions. It combines two different oscillators with a moving average, standard deviations and fractal energy to help identify trends and their exhaustion. I use this for day trading and this is mostly a mean reversion tool for me. It allows me to keep my charts clean to focus on levels while still providing me with useful information. The setup of this indicator is really a framework that could be used to swap in other oscillators or trend identifiers as desired. It is important to note that oversold or overbought conditions can continue to exist for a long while. Never enter a trade simply because something is overbought or oversold.

On to the details:
There are 4 sections to this indicator, so I will go from the bottom to the top. The colored band is an indication of the current trend. This information is derived from the Vidya Moving Average. As the fractal energy decreases in the move (ie. FE < 0.382), gray squares are printed on the trend identifier.
The next area is dedicated to the Chande Momentum Oscillator. I have found this to be a pretty reasonable oscillator for day trading/scalping on smaller timeframes. Many other oscillators seem to be constantly OB/OS on smaller timeframes and this is about as good as I could find.
The next area is the Volume Strength Index or Slow VSI. Provides a different take on the action by using volume vs price.
The final area (at the top) is the 'Signal' area. This is triggered when we move back from extended to 'normal' as per the Deviation Scaled Oscillator.

For each of the lines above, an orange triangle is the overbought type signal and the blue triangle is oversold. I've included an image of a 1 minute /ES chart with some arrows demonstrating where the reversal signals are happening. Note, that it is best if the fractal energy 'alert' is showing prior to the reversal signal. It is intended more as a confirmation of a trend change than as an entry signal.

Again, I am using this on lower timeframes as a reference point for my trading. I have left the ability to change the standard inputs for the 'base' indicators I have mentioned above. There is also an option to color the candles when the indicators are in alignment. By posting this here, I am hoping that others might find value in it and/or be able to extend it to help in their trading journey. Let me know if you have any questions.

Sorry, I put the arrows on the upper chart manually. They are just printing from the Deviation Scaled Oscillator indicator that comes with TOS. You should be able to add them with that quite easily...

Nice job @FutureTony

I haven't ever really looked into any of these studies but they all are very cool, especially when combined like this.

I was looking at the vma script and specifically the bull/bear trend determination. I noticed that on tradingview LazyBear defines a bull trend as vma > vma[1] and a bear trend as vma < vma[1], but if vma == vma[1] then it's really a "no trend" state. This may cause the trend portion of this script and candle colors to be biased towards being bearish. Would it make sense to have a gray color on the trend bar (and maybe candles) for a no trend state?

alternatively, it may make sense to carry over the prior trend state when vma goes flat.

Thanks! I had thought about the same thing with respect to trend. I was hoping to minimize the smaller changes when it flips for one candle and then goes back. Let me tinker with it a bit more and see if I can improve it.

I wasn't happy with how 'chatty' the Vidya average was when trying to tune it as per @bigboss 's suggestion. I decided to go back to an earlier version using SuperTrend. The code above has been updated. I've also included an optional MACD filter. I got the idea of using a 'double sized' MACD from a @horserider post, I believe. It is on here now by default so you will see less switching of bull/bear trends. You can also turn that filter off and show the MACD Trend directly - this will provide two trend lines:

GuZUG7X.png

MACD is the bottom trend line.

With Candle painting turned on:

Thanks to the email I am taking a look at this. I am in search of something that will help deter me of getting into a futures trade when the move is probably over. I draw/use levels but ..... This looks promising to help me know better when a re entry will work or not.

I started to evaluate it.
A few of my observations: It is best to enter after the red alert bar completes. I combined it with a simple 10 EMA crossing the 20 EMA to confirm the change in trend.

I used it on the 5 min /NQ chart.
Definitely liking it.

I assume that when the fractal energy loses steam / value then the trend maybe coming to an end.

Great indicator. Definitely provides useful information when trading, supporting enough evidence to come to a bias.
Question: Is there a way to only allow a "signal" when all four conditions are met? For example if all 4 aligns with one another then a signal is trigger or else none. I believe that way it provides a strong evidence to react to the market condition.

Have you tried this with the 'colorCandles' option set to yes? Effectively that is what it is doing...coloring candles with 'bullish' or 'bearish' depending on the alignment of the various methods.
