I found it interesting that you were able to plot (reference) a whole "study" in a single snippet:

plot marketSentiment = marketsentiment();

Would it be possible to explain if this approach of referencing a whole study can be applied to any other study?

Yes, you can reference any ToS built-in study in a custom script.
No, you can not reference custom studies in a custom script.

You can get the syntax for the ToS built-in study by clicking on Inspector
